Cryptocurrency enthusiasts have their pick when it comes to software wallets, but MetaMask is among the most popular solutions. Let’s check how to add Gnosis chain to MetaMask!
Step 1: Install MetaMask
You first have to install MetaMask to your browser, which can be done in a few minutes. The official website has a link for you to download the extension. When you add it to your browser, simply choose “Settings” and then click on “More Tools.” Something like this will appear on your screen:
You can also pin the extension to your browser if you toggle the blue button:
Step 2: Opening MetaMask in a Separate Browser Tab
Once the installation is finished, the next step is opening the wallet in a separate browser tab. The wallet is available in the top right-hand corner of your browser. Click on the MetaMask fox icon if the wallet is pinned. If you haven’t pinned the wallet, click on the three dots on the top-right corner of the screen. You will see the following screen:
There’s also the option to expand the wallet to a new browser page by clicking on “Expand view:”
That opens MetaMask in a new tab:
Step 3: Add Gnosis Chain to Your MetaMask Wallet
By selecting the profile icon on the top right, you can add Gnosis chain. Click on settings to open the following screen:
Open the “Networks” option from the following screen:
And then bring the following screen:
Click on “Add a network” to add Gnosis Chain. Copy and paste the information from below:
- Network Name: Gnosis Chain formerly xDai
- RPC URL: https://rpc.gnosischain.com
- ChainID: 100
- Symbol: xDai
- Block Explorer URL: https://gnosisscan.io
Click on “Save” to add the network. Now Gnosis Chain is added to your network:
Step 4: Transfer GNO to Your Wallet
To add Gnosis tokens (GNO) to your MetaMask, you can use any exchange that supports GNO. For instance, Binance is an option that lets you withdraw GNO to your MetaMask.
Select “Withdraw” and open the following screen:
Copy your MetaMask address from the clipboard in your account:
Paste it into the address folder. The correct network is automatically selected: in this case, Ethereum. GNO does not yet exist on the Gnosis Chain itself.
Select the amount you want to withdraw and click “Withdraw:”
After the exchange processes the withdrawal request, you receive GNO directly into your MetaMask wallet.
