<p class="has-drop-cap">Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) <a aria-label="released (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20240402814946/en/Tesla-Vehicle-Production-Deliveries-and-Date-for-Financial-Results-Webcast-for-First-Quarter-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow" class="deco-link">released</a> its vehicle production and delivery report for the first quarter of 2024. The reported numbers fell short of expectations, and the firm’s stock price dropped over 7% in <a href="https://tokenist.com/investing/how-to-trade-after-hours/" rel="dofollow" class="deco-link">premarket trading</a> and finally opened at $164.60, a 5.2% drop from the previous close of $173.54.</p> 
<h3 id="tesla-deliveries-in-q1-fall-short-of-expectations">Tesla Deliveries in Q1 Fall Short of Expectations</h3> 
<p>The company produced over 433,000 vehicles and delivered approximately 387,000 vehicles during the year’s first quarter.</p> 
<p>The Model 3 and Model Y accounted for most of the production and deliveries, with 412,376 units produced and 369,783 units delivered. The company’s other models, including the Model S and Model X, saw production of 20,995 units and deliveries of 17,027 units.</p> 
<p>Despite these impressive figures, Tesla fell short of analysts’ expectations for the quarter. According to a mean of 11 estimates compiled by FactSet, analysts expected around 457,000 deliveries for Q1.</p> 
<p>A broader consensus from 30 estimates expected a mean of 443,027 deliveries and a median of 431,125. The decline in volumes can be partially attributed to the early phase of the production ramp of the updated Model 3 and factory shutdowns caused by shipping diversions from the Red Sea conflict and an <a href="https://tokenist.com/premarket-movers-in-focus-palantir-technologies-pltr-and-tesla-tsla/" rel="dofollow" class="deco-link">arson attack</a> at Gigafactory Berlin.</p>

<h3 id="tesla-stock-drops-over-5-after-q1-report">Tesla Stock Drops Over 5% After Q1 Report</h3> 
<p>Tesla’s stock price reacted negatively to the delivery report, with shares dropping 7% in premarket trading and the stock opening over 5% lower.<br><br>The closing price before the report was $175.79, and the pre-market price after the report was $164.61, a decline of 6.06%. This marks a continuation of a <a href="https://tokenist.com/tesla-is-the-only-loser-in-the-magnificent-seven-so-far-this-year/" rel="dofollow" class="deco-link">challenging period</a> for Tesla’s stock, which dropped 29% in the first quarter, marking the biggest decline since the end of 2022 and the third-steepest quarterly plunge since the company’s IPO in 2010.</p> 
<p>In the same quarter of 2023, Tesla reported 422,875 deliveries and production of 440,808 vehicles compared to the previous year.
