As the Muslim holy month of Ramadan winds to an end, leading ride-hailing company, <a href="http://bolt.eu" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bolt</a>, on Monday night, hosted an Iftar dinner in honour of Muslims operating on its platform. This was revealed in a press statement seen by Technext. The company said the initiative was intended to bolster love, inclusion, and community awareness among its members. 
The Iftar dinner took place at the Barcelona Hotel in Abuja. Imam Mansur Abubakar led prayers before guests then gathered together to break their fast with bespoke menus.&nbsp;Although it was an Iftar dinner, Christian drivers appear to have been invited to the event as both sets of drivers feasted together following prayers. 
A Muslim driver, Hamza Uthman expressed his elation at enjoying the Iftar dinner with his Christian fellow drivers as it was in consonance with the spirit of the holy month. 
“We are happy to break our fast with our Christian brothers and sisters. This is what Ramadan is about – uniting people. Thanks to Bolt for this great idea,” he said.

Bolt says the Iftar dinner allowed Muslim driver-partners observing the holy month the opportunity to gather to break their fast together as well as provide a safe space for mutual dialogue and engagement. 
The Iftar dinner epitomizes its steadfast commitment to fostering meaningful engagement with its driver community and strengthening the bond between drivers and the e-hailing platform, according to the statement. The company also noted that as a company deeply rooted in values of appreciation and inclusivity, it remains dedicated to creating memorable experiences and nurturing a sense of belonging among its esteemed drivers.

Speaking about the initiative, Bolt Nigeria Country Manager, Yahaya Mohammed, said the Iftar celebration was to acknowledge the different backgrounds of drivers and to honour them accordingly. 
“We are a big community with lots of driver-partners from different backgrounds and we want to honour, respect and share the joy of every driver. This is about saying yes to love, inclusion, community and yes to everyone who wants to be a driver-partner. It’s very special to host an Iftar dinner with our hardworking driver-partners and something we are extremely proud about,” he said. 
The ride-hailing giant expressed gratitude to hardworking drivers still stepping on the pedal throughout Ramadan.
